4) GET LOAN before buying bike

You will need a SSN to get a loan in the US (if you're here on a school visa, then you should be able to use your VISA information to obtain a loan) otherwise find a bike with the money you currently have (a lot of nice bikes can be found for $2000).
Shop around for insurance before purchasing your bike.
