How much will north carolina motorcycle insurance for a 18 year old?

Alma asked:

My friend wanted to know. Its a 600cc bike && we live in North Carolina. Can anyone give me an estimate of how much he could be paying for insurance?

Reply:

That's too general a question since rates are different from county to county and coverages vary.
Call a local agent for a quote and make sure you understand what coverage you're getting. Be sure you buy medical coverage and uninsured motorist coverage. Remember, accidents are usually not the cycle's fault so you have to be prepared to cover yourself in case the person that hits you doesn't have any insurance or doesn't have enough. In the event it's your fault or just your vehicle involved there won't be anyone else to collect from so you need to be sure you have the coverage you need either way. You should also look into buying life, disability and long-term care coverage.

First off, I don't remember the differences that apply to military.
It's been way too long. Asking in the Military section would help with that part.
You may have to change your license to a North Carolina one to able to get the endorsement there.
I'm pretty sure you don't want to go all the way to Indiana just for a test.

I suggest finding a Motorcycle Safety Foundation course (or the locally offered one).
It's the best way to learn the basics.
In most cases, passing the course allows you to bypass the practical portion of the license test.
Here's the link to NCDOT with the requirements for the permit and license:

At the bottom of the page is a pdf link to the current motorcycle manual.
This is the book to study for the tests.

You need a vin number for the vehicle you are getting insured for whether that vehicles yours, your parents, your brothers. If YOU are the one acquiring the insurance on any given vehicle you need a vin number for that vehicle otherwise why would you need the insurance? ?
