Thanks for your help. I get put off when the insurance company I am not even with asks me for my SSN (just for a quote).

They have to have your SSN to pull your driving/riding record – otherwise their quote is meaningless.

If you have a loan against the bike, you will have to pay for full coverage insurance – probably around $130-160 bucks a month, depending on how much you financed.

If you own the bike, you only have to have liability – which is really cheap on a bike, $40-50 a month depending on your record.

If you haven’t had any accidents, and only a few tickets (or none), then you might be able to get out of it cheaper.

They want your SSN to check your credit. to see if you pay your bills.
The year helps but type and size of the motor play a big part.

I pay $345 a year for a 03 Honda 919. Full coverage. Having a loan should not make your insurance more. Most insurance companies look at motorcycle as for pleasure anyway. So what you plan on using it for really don’t matter.

Need more info-what size bike you have. Have you taken the MSF course? Do you belong to any groups-AMA, Women on Wheels etc which both offer discount rates to members. Do you have more than 1 bike or will this bike go on your insurance that you have your car and home insured by? All these things will play a role in the rate you get quoted.

You will pay more than me simply because I have 40 years of riding experience under my belt and you don’t. I also get discounts for having passed the experienced rider course of the MSF and being a member of the AMA and Women on Wheels as well as multibike discount. My full coverage a year for my Drifter runs me about 350.per and my 250 ninja also runs about the same.
